I don't want to learn their other OS'es and how to get around the new protection schemes they are using. but i should NOT have to, to put XP on other machines I OWN. Thus far I've figured ways around the copy protection crap. My view is that software is a TOOL and I should NOT have to PAY for every machine I use it on! Imagine if a mechanic had to pay every time he used a wrench on a different brand of car he worked on just how much you would have to pay for auto repairs! If I buy software I should be able to use it on any machine I have to access, as an operator or owner, like a mechanic does his tools! Nuts to lawyers, intellectual property rights, and copyrights! How about some un-common, common sense?! Using the gedit? They make reference to using regedit in wine but don't tell how.Īs for the 2nd option (use XP): that is what I am trying to get away form! I am lost! I did find a bad usb/serial cable using the lsusb command, so that attempt was crashed and I still need to know how to force serial port recognition. I need hand holding thru this one! (like a list of commands i can input in some mode to force wine to feed the info to the pgm so that it sees the serial port installed in the computer)

A local ham has tryed to help but he is not familiar with the xwindow (he calls it) that mint contains. I just don't understand what the terminal commands do like i understood DOS. The pgm runs but at start up, but when you set up the radio control interface there are NO serial ports in the list to connect the radio to! I have tryed to set up a vertual connection to the port but I am doing something WRONG.
